A Clear Route from Software Problem to Working Solution
Reduce uncertainty before you commit to a major build
Custom software projects work best when both sides understand the problem, the proposed outcome and the scope of work. Our staged approach is designed to protect your investment and ensure we are a suitable partner.
Step 1 — Tell us about your requirements
Complete four short qualification questions covering your software problem, the suitability of standard products, your indicative budget and whether you believe grant funding may be relevant.
Our normal minimum budget for a custom development project is £30,000 or local equivalent.
Step 2 — Free initial consultation
If your project meets the initial budget filter, you can book a free 20–30 minute conversation. We discuss your objectives, current arrangements and essential requirements, and aim to give you a broad, non-binding cost range. This is a fit and commercial discussion, not an unpaid technical workshop.
Step 3 — Paid Software Discovery & Development Plan
If you are comfortable with the likely investment and wish to proceed, we agree a separate paid discovery engagement, including its scope, price and deliverables before work begins.
Discovery normally involves two to four structured calls to examine users, workflow, core functionality, integrations, data, assumptions and significant technical dependencies. We produce a written development plan suitable for informed supplier discussions.
The plan is yours to keep. You are free to use it to seek alternative software development quotations. The discovery service is separate from any eventual development contract.
Step 4 — Formal quotation
Using the documented requirements, we prepare a formal proposal addressing the defined functionality, price, estimated schedule, milestones, commercial terms, customer responsibilities and ownership/licensing provisions. Any material scope changes are dealt with explicitly.
Step 5 — Contract and development
If you choose InfoForte, development begins after the contract is signed, an agreed deposit is received and applicable pre-commencement requirements are satisfied. We then work through agreed milestones, reviews and testing activities.
Step 6 — Launch and support
Implementation, data migration, training, handover and ongoing support are agreed according to the needs of the project. We aim to leave the customer with a maintainable system and clear support arrangements.
Questions customers ask
Why is detailed discovery paid?
A useful development plan requires focused professional analysis. Paid discovery gives you a defined deliverable and an independent opportunity to evaluate the project before commissioning the full build.
Must we appoint InfoForte after discovery?
No. You can keep and use the development plan to seek competing quotations, subject to identified pre-existing intellectual-property rights.
Is the initial consultation free?
Yes. The initial 20–30 minute consultation is free and carries no obligation to proceed.
Can you guarantee the final cost on that call?
No. We can discuss an indicative range; the formal quotation follows documented discovery.
Can we change requirements during the build?
Change is possible, but its effect on price and timetable must be agreed through a change-control process.
