Connecting Design, Manufacture and Site Delivery in One Workflow

The challenge

Timber-frame projects pass through an unusually interconnected sequence of technical and commercial decisions. Design reviews influence quotations; approvals affect production schedules; material and capacity constraints affect manufacture; dispatch depends on readiness on site; and multiple external participants need access to different information. Disconnected spreadsheets and tools make it difficult to maintain one reliable picture.

Why a tailored system was proposed

The requirement went beyond simple project management. The proposed system had to reflect the company’s own relationships among project design, certification, quotation, manufacturing, inventory, transport and erection, including different user roles for technical staff, consultants, customers and installation teams.

The proposed platform

InfoForte outlined a connected architecture spanning service dashboards, a custom quotation builder, project and finance oversight, collaboration areas, production capacity, pre-production planning, manufacturing progress, dispatch, erection scheduling and inventory. The design also considered Sage accounting integration and reporting on project and capacity performance.

Agile through visible prototypes

Rather than treating a long written specification as the final word, InfoForte proposed structured discovery followed by a working prototype, customer review and successive refinements. Only once the essential journeys were validated would the full system be built, tested, polished and prepared for deployment. That approach allows the people who know the business best to shape the software while changes are still manageable.

The value of one connected workflow

The intended outcome was a single, usable way to follow a timber-frame project from design and approval through production and site delivery, improving coordination and helping the business see dependencies earlier. These are proposed outcomes, not claims of measured performance improvement.

Where bespoke engineering matters

The distinctive element is not any individual dashboard. It is the underlying logic connecting one stage of a physical project to the next, with dependencies, approvals and information access that reflect how the business really works.

What this project demonstrates

Tailored systems are particularly valuable when design, production, supply chain and delivery must work as one continuous process.

Our Approach

We aim to publish useful, specific explanations rather than generic promotional articles. Where a standard product is the better option, we will say so. Articles should be reviewed as technologies and practices change
